Let go life: The fragrance of sweet-scented osmanthus in autumn is ten miles away. Do you all know how to plant it and what to pay attention to?

"Osmanthus falls in the middle of the moon, and the sky is fragrant and the clouds float out." I often imagine that sitting under the moonlight, the fragrance of sweet-scented osmanthus flowers bursts into my nostrils. As one of the famous flowers in my country, the leaves remain green in all seasons, and the flowers are fragrant when they bloom in autumn. Its flowers can also be made into delicacies, such as sweet-scented osmanthus, osmanthus tea, osmanthus cake, osmanthus sauce, osmanthus steamed bread and osmanthus oatmeal Wait. It is a very popular plant, and everyone should know that osmanthus is very suitable for garden cultivation. So, what are the ways and precautions for osmanthus cultivation?

Osmanthus is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the Osmanthus family of Osmanthus fragrans. It is one of the top ten traditional Chinese flowers, plum, peony, chrysanthemum, orchid, rose, azalea, camellia, lotus, sweet-scented osmanthus and narcissus.

Four taboos for cultivation of sweet-scented osmanthus: don't water half, don't use alkaline soil, don't overwinter at high temperature, and don't accumulate water.

1. Don't pour half water

When watering sweet-scented osmanthus, you should be careful not to only water a little water, which will cause the soil surface to be wet and the root system to dry out, resulting in insufficient water for the roots, resulting in dry leaves, and even more leaves falling off.

2. Do not use alkaline earth

Osmanthus likes slightly acidic soil, and a pH of 5.5-6.5 is suitable. If the planting soil is alkaline, it will cause the leaves to turn yellow, and even cause the entire plant to die.

3. Do not overwinter in high temperature

Everyone should know that osmanthus is a hardy plant. However, its cold-resistant temperature is also limited. In the south of the Yangtze River, it can be allowed to spend the winter in the open field; in North China, it can be allowed to spend the winter indoors, and the indoor temperature is 2~4 degrees Celsius. However, if the room temperature is too high, in winter or early spring, its dormant buds will randomly grow, consuming nutrients in vain, and the plants will be stunted. The early spring in the north is different from that in the south. It is arid and windy. It is not suitable for potted sweet-scented osmanthus to be placed outdoors too early, otherwise the new branches will be damaged by the strong wind. Another point to pay attention to is not to plant sweet-scented osmanthus in places with a lot of dust, such as near factories and mines.

4. Do not accumulate water

If there is water in the soil, it will lead to rotten roots and leaves of osmanthus, which may cause a small impact in a short time. However, over time, its root system will rot, resulting in the death of the plant. Therefore, pay attention to drainage during the rainy season.

The point is that, generally speaking, when osmanthus is planted in the courtyard, potted cultivation is considered. So, how to plant sweet-scented osmanthus?

1. What kind of flower pot should I choose?

It is recommended to choose a well-ventilated tile pot for planting. Drill a hole at the bottom and use a tile to drag the basin to facilitate its drainage.

2. How should the soil be selected?

You can choose two kinds of soil, the first one is mountain mud/leaf soil: garden soil: sandy soil according to 5:3:2, and the second one is garden soil: manure: river sand according to 1:1:1. When the pot is just placed, decomposed organic bone meal should be added as a base fertilizer.

3. When should the bred seedlings be placed in pots?

According to the habit of sweet-scented osmanthus, its planting time is more appropriate to choose from late autumn from November to early December or spring from February to early March. However, it is recommended that the seedlings be potted in the spring as much as possible to avoid freezing damage caused by the low temperature in winter. After potting, you also need to pay attention to some things, that is, it should be well watered and placed in a ventilated place. After a week, the potted plants should be moved to a sunny place for planting.

4.How to plant the osmanthus after it is potted?

There are four main points: water control, fertilization control, pruning and leaf cutting, and prevention and control of pests and diseases.

(1) Control of moisture. The soil should be kept moist, and attention should be paid to drainage when there is a lot of rain to prevent the stagnant water from causing root rot. When flowering in autumn, avoid the soil being too wet, which will lead to the phenomenon of falling flowers;

(2) The control of fertilization. During the spring germination period, fertilization should be maintained once every 10-15 days. After July in summer, potassium dihydrogen phosphate or superphosphate should be added at the same time as fertilization to promote the differentiation of flower buds;

(3) Pruning and cutting leaves. This is not just for aesthetics, but also for its health and to avoid excessive consumption of nutrients. Trim off dead branches, thin and weak branches, and diseased and insect branches, leaving only short and uniform branches;

(4) Prevention and control of pests and diseases. Osmanthus is prone to sooty disease, brown spot disease, whitefly scale insects and leaf chan.

There are also many kinds of sweet-scented osmanthus. The leaves remain green all year round, and the flowers bloom in autumn. The flowers have ornamental value and edible value. It is a good garden plant. If you also want to plant flowers, remember to bookmark the above-mentioned osmanthus planting methods and precautions.
